GamingGameDev 😷🍉did you ever do the networking step you described? I don't see it in this playlist
ot sure what bit, i've done a number of network videos though.
oddbodd58jellyseerr requests all seasons of a TV show, is there a way to only request an episode or follow a show, or only download the first episode and then download the next after finishing the first, also a bonus would be nic3 to delete the episode after you are finished watching it
user1472169513337I use plex with a tracking of my watch list to get new downloads
sasukeI just feel like using casaOS is over complicating the arr stack. run docker on a Ubuntu VM or just in LXC on proxmox. been done 1000 times, there's docker compose files everywhere. plenty of documentation, and the best rewards for learning.
yup, lots of them, casa is just a little. more user friendly for inexpericed homelabbers, that's all
sasukeahh that's fair. check out dockge sometime. it's a great docker manager that doesn't over complicate like portainer does.
I'll have to take a look
sasukesame creator that made uptime Kuma 👌🏻
Mark Valenzuela😂😂😂
snsjozaixnxnSo i dont Need Netflix and the other stuff anymore
Peter WalkerCurious your opinion of Overseer vs Ombi? I have using Ombi for a long time.
@vpetewalker Ive not really used Ombi that much, I should give it a try, but if it works for you then no reason to change now!
asmunddoes this same system work for jellyfin if we cant afford plex paid?
Yes, 100%
asmundthank you for your time i guess i will need to get a pc and get started
DarganCould you do one of these to do an AWS project deployment?
@dargankiller You want to set this up in AWS? you would need to local host the data and the media server though, but its an interesting project.
The vacuum that sucksCannot wait to up my game. No more long work
Nice!
The vacuum that sucksWhat about quality of “backup”. CAMs vs actual rips?
I just avoid anything that isn't 4k or close.
thehumanrebuildso 1080p and up
Neeson303To download, without being flagged do you need a VPN? Where does all this get installed on the PC?
You can use glueton in the container, or if you're using unraid you can use the built in vpn on the container, or worst cane add the vpn to the entire device.
James JacksonDoes this work with jellyfin?
Yes, there is jellyseerr which is more custom for JF
GuyonCouchLink to full setup ? I hope you have this on YouTube
Yes I do, my youtube is in the bio thing!
GuyonCouchI have most of this but I cannot find a solid how to for radr and how to use sonar . I been manually doing this work and love to not have to do much other than have a site for the fam to request items
GuyonCouchFound the YouTube - will come back when done
Awesome. Good luck.
GuyonCouchStruggles , something is up with the 1333 and adding it, it also don’t help I am RDP trying . Will update
GuyonCouch@BenjaminSPowell I failed epically. Something fishy continues to go on, I cannot move past a point (comment in YT)
I'll see if I can help
George ZournatzisHow do you bind vpn on qbittorrent? With Casa os
Driving_In_LACan I do this on a Mac?
Yes I belive you can, if the apps aren't available you can use casaos as a vm on the Mac and use it like that.
Bluchip Studiodam what a way to over complicate things install jelly fin install sabnzb install jellyseer and your done 3 things all with auto install scripts takes less than 20 mins
fillmewiththeteaas a former automator I decided to jack it all in and go manual again. I found I was just downloading stuff I'd never get around to watching and chewing through TB of space. Much more zen now with my one hour a week zen downloading spree!😂 nice setup though dude.
This is very much a problem we all have.
user27382919273pick one of like 5 apps and a debrid service. I just saved you hours of your setup and future maintenance and electricity cost. you're welcome.
Kr0noL1nk😂
ZATHAALGORAbsolutely love this series! Genuienly game changing. Any chance you’re still thinking of doing a video on Lidarr/Nicotine? 😊
Thanks and yeah, I have got it planned and its overdue!
ZATHAALGORNo worries, super interested as I had no idea you could interstate Nicotine into Lidarr, super keen and loving your content!!
It will be out soon:)
Zeuscan you make a video showing how to set this all up?
Jon Irwin❤️❤️❤
jettowhat is going on here what kind of saurcery is this
James BakerOr go to your torrent site and download it from there without all the overhead
Duzxbut then my friends and family will have to DM me to download all the public domain media they want to watch. It's much better if it just downloads automatically
Motivationerdor I can create my own Netflix looking environment where I can download everything in one second and not have to manage anything with one button. and it's doubly better if you use debrid. 50gb blu-ray rip available in 5 seconds. don't even have to host it locally just stream it but 10x beter quality than Netflix
You can yes.
Motivationerdthis hobby is so incredibly fun and I just started 😅
Totally agree!!!
Nyuu_thanks for the great content. keep up the good work 😊
Breadcamoversearr or jellysearr only do sonarr and radarr how about the rest of the rr requests?
Wash Your Hands FamI thought flaresolver is dead? They even say so on their website
AustralopithecusIt’s actively maintained. Recent release was this year.
thetruthisoutther3pirated movies? not worried?
Always
YuithinasiaIs this accessible remotely?
Yes, with cloudflare or tailscale or a paid plex account (if your ISP allows static ip addresses)
BarsonCeasleyCan we see the user experience from the perspective of non administrators in your home?
Yeah, so on their device they have overseer. And then on the tv there the plex app, that's basically it.
Toxictagerhi I don't know if you have covered this but I have my own laptop turned server with jellyfin and I was wondering if there was a way to automate the torrent part of it? I use my own website for requests that stores using a SQLite database so if there is something that can connect to it that would be great 👍
Check some of the other videos, I cover a lot of that
Toxictagerok I will try to find the video about it, thanks!
Juan Mc Dcool. greatly explained. I was wondering though, does this work for managed users or do they have to be outside of the server but have access to use it on a per user basis?
It will work for managed users, and if you use cloudflare they can access the overseer on a dedicated address so no network issues.
FrankExtremely helpful!
Glad it helps!
clientPlex > Jellyfin
Ryan329"But Jellyfin is free" Yup and so is public transit for students but they still yearn to have their own paid car to drive
clienthonestly think the paid move for plex is better because now I don’t need grandma to pay the $5 Apple Store fee for the plex app 😂
Ryan329I was floored when I learned apple users had to pay for the app and that Google users it just operated on a vibe whether or not it asked you to pay (been sharing my server for years and only came up beginning of this year)
Dcheck out byparr for a flaresolvarr alternative. 😁 great to have both setup imo
ill take a look
cookman11223344how did you setup the vpn?
Im doing a video that will show you how to use Tailscale and a VPN to get the best of everything.
Markso autopirate
Arrrr whurr buzzz clickkk...
Elijah luster😂🤣🤣 yeah what he said
TheGingerBanditoCan someone point me in the direction or message me on what is a homelab and how is it used.
A homelab is a computer that you dedicate to running services and apps just for you to use. Like a netflix replacement or for data storage.
polar695How would you go about adding all these extras on a media server on a NAS like QNAP which only seems to have limited apps
If you just want to have the apps for management, and not trasncoding, then 100% a cheap raspberry pi is the way to go.
VonHaggisI've never been able to get the arrs working correctly in unraid
Oh, whats the issue, I have them all working fine, maybe I can help?
David NavalhoHave you covered subtitles? 😬
RomeoBazarr
Lee Gawthorpeso is this just like an iptv thing or am I missing somthing here.
RomeoNah basically makes it very easy to do torrenting
Basically yes.
RushStill sucks that there isn’t a anime filter on overseerr. My biggest problem
I think there is, you can use filters no? search by genre.
RushNa it’s too broad of a spectrum unfortunately from studios to genres
Thats a shame, Im not super into Anime so i've not done a lot of investigation into it, My youngest is though so I shold solve it for her!
FryPretty cool. I use the Nzb360 app to manage everything. But it's more of a back-office thing. + I made a script to auto convert a torrent from indexers into direct DL. Satisfied ✌️
I also have Nzb360 on the phone, and its VERY neat, not sure if I would upgrade to the paid version though, but I do like it
BenI have a question! I have a Plex server but have discovered stremio torrentio & realdebrid. what is the advantage of all these extras over stremio. it sounds like the same with extra steps & waiting for downloads. all sailing the seas btw
If you don't care about the files, then 100% go with streamio and you're only using one app!
BenjaminFor me it's that I want to watch 4k hdr content, but my network isnt fast enough to stream it, so i download it instead and serve it localy to my tv
bootsiewizarrrr(4 not 5 r's) is a must if you are inviting people. you get pretty invite links and onboarding/walkthrough it also creates accounts on both.
bootsiedon't forget lidarr and the music preview branch of jellyseerr. soularr is a must aswell but you need slskd instead of nicotine. whisparr and stash is also a fun one.
Yeah lidarr just kinda died.
BenGreat video, I spent so much time trying to do all of this myself 2-3 years ago. Overseerr is the goat for getting requests, no more having to do it all yourself.
I agree.
DJPhatsyI have a really old nas drive which isn't compatible with plex etc. What's the min spec I'd need to run a home server?
I have a video that can help, if yiu want to get a low cost pc like a elitedesk or similar, it will help choose, and I did a vid just before about using an old m1 mac in too
Shane HodgsonOmbi trumps Overseer 10 fold as a tool to make requests. Looking top if you dont know it
I think I need to do a review on Oversser vs Ombi vs Jellyseer
Shane HodgsonI used Overseer but found Ombi much better, and its being actively managed and maintained.
aquillian😂😂😂
NemeZisJellyfin is better than Plex with the crappy mov they did recently
YugureWhat did they do recently?
NemeZisneed to pay for external streaming
Or use cloudflare and you don't.
NemeZisI use tailscale, works well on my phone.
Meh 🫤I use the following: Jellyfin, sonarr, prowlarr, radarr, flaresolver. Jellyseerr and finally wbittorrent
Great setup!
Meh 🫤All this is set up on docker desktop. Everything has its container. And on top of this. It’s all in a private network.
Lee Gawthorpethe sentance makes me feel out the loop and here's me with e z t v still.
MrDerekibOverseerr vs Jellyseerr?
Good question, ill do a video!
Morten AI prefer Plusarr, it connects to plex’s watchlist for you and all friends
This is excellent!
philmcrackinWhat app are you using for task mapping?
Task mapping?
philmcrackinSorry. At the start of your vid showing your plan of actions with the links between them. Looks like mind mapping. Thanks 🙏🏼
Oh, that is a chrome extention I built called Quickmap https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/pojafkbmdkdfalopboglakciabaedknd
philmcrackinOh nice. Thanks
rod_silva13I tried it out I can only use the nodes on the top and left to connect boxes together
I'll do a rebuild add somebetter node management
genuine question… why does anyone use Plex over Jellyfin in 2025?
ArthranAbsolutely nothing wrong with using Plex still
wintersforgegamesBecides they keep putting more and more basic functionality behind paywalls
thechrisanityPlex is way more capable in multi user environments and for remote streaming. Also a bit more widely supported.
thechrisanityI'm not saying you can't do it on Jellyfin. Plex is more just more batteries-included. Although, isn't remote streaming on Jellyfin exclusively through a self-hosted VPN?
brummyjonill stick with plex until a better Watch Together feature comes out for another app
yes, or exposed to the internet
I need to lookup Plex's remote streaming. Hopefully one day JF will add MFA.
of course, I didn't say there was
S EelesI can answer this. Jellyfin is good for local only. Getting access to it remotely is a faff. For example if I want to watch stuff on holiday, I can’t just go on the jellyfin app and watch stuff, it’s no longer connected to my network. It’s a hassle to set up some sort of remote system that will work. Whereas with Plex, I log in, all my stuff is there, I can watch it wherever I am.
SaulHenohave my jellyfin running via a reverse proxy. I have 5 other people using it outside of my network with their own accounts and passwords, on top of the 3 people using it internally on the home network. It’s not hard, and works pretty damn well even letting you set per user bandwidth limits
I have JF remote access setup, it's just not as secure as I'd like (port forwarded with very long passwords). It's very easy to do… but complicated if you want better security.
S EelesYeah, exactly. By default Plex is secure and doesn’t require setting up port forwarding and all that stuff.
Newt AlexanderPlex has better device support. I have the app on Roku, LGTV, Hisense, Android phone as well as obviously PC.
RazzomissileSadly, Jellyfin is still inferior regarding usability against Plex, especially clients. There are some third party apps you can get on your phone/tablet/tv but those are either paid or sketchy at best (imo). Plus, library management and view is much much slower in Jellyfin. I heard some people tried hacking the usage of an external database (iirc Postgres) instead of the built in SQLite and the speed has improved quite significantly, but it was just an hack.
bobbyplex is cleaner and user friendly like jellfin needs other apps like tailscale to watch outside the home plex is king period if your cheap go with Billy
what??? There are official Jellyfin clients for pretty much every platform. The latest upgrade to JF includes a massive overhaul to the DB and it's so much faster.
Andreasyeah but Plugins for easy Integration.
TobyPlex has a better supported app
I agree.
S EelesI’ve never paid a penny to use it 🤷♂️
RazzomissileI didn't say that there aren't official Jellyfin clients, only that they are inferior. There's tons of people saying that "you should just get Infuse" (for example, if you're in Apple environment). I wasn't aware about the last update, though.
AlexBecause Plex is superior.
RomeoI migrated to Jellyfin after the latest new Plex paywall (remote play)
↙ +34》~ ☆「𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒇𝒕𝒓𝒐」because its actual selfhosted, plex spies on you
TheRealTTBought lifetime about 10yrs ago so doesn’t cost a penny. App support on smart TVs is just better. Looked a bit at Jellyfin, but it was going to be a big pain to get the same feature set on all devices
MeemoHe mentioned this in another video: Plex is on all devices, playstation included (his reason for using it), and it is just a plug and play system vs jellyfin that has the same options but require installing plugins for the features you want + more configuring you need to do yourself.
Mr_S1n1sterBecause they started their builds in 2022
jjjjjjasonnnnnn3 reasons for me: I got lifetime a while ago; true remote access; clients for almost all platforms
tiktoffs7p0I personally use Plex because if I want to stream something at a friend's house I don't want to futz around with setting up a reverse proxy or paying for a domain just for that. For my own use accessing my other stuff I have tailscale setup, but none of that will ever really be used by anyone else or on any devices that aren't mine
The Sandy Stone😂 $90 for my lifetime access 4 years ago was plenty enough to avoid every conversation about this
wintersforgegamesLucky boy
chuckleberryfinnPlayStation app
TentoI paid for it long time ago and not gonna throw it away when it works perfectly fine. only downside is privacy
TheatrePlex has wider platform support and an easier user experience for non-tech friends/family to use.
☭ G.I. Bonkers ☭ 🍉🇵🇸Because Jellyfin is barely okay so far and horrible for multi-user scenarios. Plex with lifetime is much much better. Despite their attempts at enshittification.
AndreasInstall Plugin, Setup sso & it works? How much you want more? All around its a 10min Job because MS entraID is so slow 😂
I didn't know JF had SSO......
MithrellasYou can put a proxy in front of it which can take care of the Auth. Just so you know that option exists.
TacticalBacnI already had a life access from a few years back
Score!
fillmewiththeteait "just works" across almost all my devices and official apps are more common too. I work all day with tech I don't wanna problem solve in my free time. Originally why I moved from the old methods like XBMC/Kodi, family can use Plex easy! although I do have a paid Plex acct which makes it better
Yeah, pick the battles with the devices for sure.
icantreadI like Plex more than Jellyfin
AThat UI is still bad
Jonathan HeavysideWhy wouldn’t you just use radarr /sonarr to add directly?
ChinnymusmaximumWhy would you want everyone on your Plex to have access to your Sonarr and Radarr instances?
you can, if its just you, easy as. I just like the UI/search/Filtering functions of Overseer to be honest.
BeenoirDoes Overseer work with Jellyfin?
Yes it does, overseer is working with the sonarr and radarr apps, so plex, emby, jellyfin all work with your media.
BeenoirNice, thanks for the advice. I’ll be going back to watch this whole series: I’ve just finished setting up JF, Radarr, Sonarr and qBittorrent. But I need to make sure I’ve done it right! Haha
MindaugasThere is jellyseerr or something like for jellyfin
Dom LJellyseerr exists for better jellyfin integration
Meh 🫤Jellyseer works better
Tom :0What os are you running here?
main pc (mac), 2 x servers (unraid) pi (Casaos), 1 x server (mac), AI pc (Windows), laptop 1 (Mac), laptop 2 (Windows), family screen (Ubuntu touch). So lots of them.. In this video series (Casaos)
RiceyDo you have a full series on YT how to setup radar and sonar, bc I cant get mine working due to isp even with vpn, socks5 proxies, its hell. Im so close to fully auto but not there yet </3
I do, the YouTube link in my bio, should help :)
Riceyvirgin media:(
BennyAre you NetworkChuck?
Lol, not quite!
Daniel James Turnercan you get your audible on this to
I don't know if you can download from audible, but plex supports music, so audio books would work the same.
DJHow long does it take after a request for plex to receive the content?
if you make a request, it then comes down to the speed at your downloader , if the files exists and so on, sometimes its fast, othertimes not so much.
joshwith a gigabit connection, usually 2 or 3 minutes
Morten AI prefer Pulsarr, as it works of plex’s watchlist for requests
RazzomissileOverseerr also has Plex watch list integration. Although I prefer Jellyseerr lately (at least the updates are more frequent and I believe has full or almost full feature parity already).
Big_DaddyOsmashing beard brother ❤️
AHAH, thanks mate! I do what I can :)
Behknux GamingSo I’ve got my stuff setup on just a windows machine, all the arrs running in docker, suggestions for easy swap to this or linux based?
Honestly, if you have it all running now, no need to change anything!
Behknux Gamingthat’s what I was thinking, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I run jellyfin so it was a bit more work getting seerr running but I got there
Awesome, I'm partial to plex, mostly because it's just what I've always used and the platform is under paid development over community, so I belive it's just a little more robust.
Behknux GamingOh absolutely, I was gonna set plex up but at the time I did it the paid model just didn’t suit me, now I’m in too deep
toddlennox5I just did this because I was using docker desktop on windows and the VM was taking up a lot of my resources. if you have your *rr stuff set up in a docker compose, the switch over isn't horrible. I'm an absolute beginner at this stuff and figured it out in a couple hours.
Behknux GamingCompose EVERYTHING 😂 I broke mine the other day trying to fix it, if I didn’t have composes I had hours of work
JakeI’m so glad I found your channel!
Glad you're here!
Tim RecoIs the only bonus to overseerr over plex watchlist import, the ability to allow/deny requests?
James Cochranoverseer also will do the watchlist import. that's how my friend has done it for a few years
DejavooooDo i have to be connected to the same network
Tenamiwith this setup yes but there're multiple methods of making it remotely accessible with varying degrees of difficulty
I'm making a video right now on how to access when you're not on the same network!
:)
fallis88Whenever I saw videos before of people's Plex servers, it's never been made clear how they get the content. Definitely gonna give this a go in my home lab. Thanks for the info!
Awesome, that's why I made this series!
fallis88Much appreciated!
The vacuum that sucksI do it the hard way. VPN and then “JackSparrow Bay” or Popcorntime. I’ll be setting this up for auto pulling
Consider using a debrid or seedbox?
