francescoAny ideas for something like FB groups? Discord format I don't like and now has issues so double no.
ewwwww Facebook can go eat and entire bag of stinky %$#$%.. lol
fiftyfourI only recognise the Windows OS icon. Please have a name for the OS, so I can search for more info about the OS.
AlwaleedAllow people to contribute to guides.
good idea.
UnabnormalDayHey Ben, discord has just announced they’re moving to require government issued ID to continue using their platform in the same manner as I do now. I do not want to give them the info considering they had a massive data breach 6 months ago. Can you talk about alternatives? I’m currently testing out self hosting teamspeak 6 which has almost all the same features, but I’ve heard things about Matrix using federation but I don’t know anything about it
yes, I did a matrix video a while ago, but I've been looking g at teamspeak as well. I'll take a look at some options for you!
UnabnormalDayMuch appreciated! I was just coming back here to your channel cause reading about matrix reminded me about a video you did. I’m going to check it out again just to go down that rabbit hole. My issue with teamspeak6 (specifically 6) is that it’s limited to 32 users per server on their free license. Which while fine for the main group of people I speak with, doesn’t extend to their friends that may or may not want to join in random orders or times. Finding a good alternative with *most* of the same features is a goal so I can get all my friends to a more private setup.
DigitalmooneyVery cool 👌
CebeideAlphabetical order is useless on the front page. It would be better to have everything organised by category: NAS, Firewall, Media Server, Office... and once inside sorted by popularity/downloads or something like that.
yeah that's true, category sort will come soon
Fred MorrisonSo excited for this
seekvery nice website but uh PLEASE add dark mode my eyes hurt
lol, I'll do that 5oday
Dany GonzalezAdd a donations button
I do have one in the about, but i felt moving it to the home would be a little crass, but i guess i should.
Dany GonzalezPut it somewhere non obtrusive and don’t call it donations but something like “buy me a beer” or “buy me a coffee”
"help with server costs" or something
Dany GonzalezYup
oh I k ow, i can have it show like the unraid ads, shows every now and again...
Obsikonplz add a dark mode
Obsikonadd a list option when you see the products
dark mode incoming.
aintnoairThis is a fantastic project and website. Really impressive work. Are you planning to release a guide on how you set everything up? Things like hosting, frontend and backend structure, security, analytics, etc. I’d love to build sites for my own projects too, but doing it properly and securely is still something I’m not fully comfortable with. Seeing how you approached this and then applying those ideas to my own projects would be incredibly helpful. Keep up the great work!
oh, what's a great idea yes! 😁😁
Nico Morgan | Equine MediaRandom question but how have you chosen to build this? Which tools to generate the html?
its js frontend, directus ad the cms, and postgress database, metabase for analytics. and I use cursor for most of it, but I've been a technical product manager for years.
MintFPSI was looking through the site yesterday, it's really great work! Thanks for putting it together. A really easy suggestion, but for those of us who prefer it, can you add a dark mode toggle? I use the "dark reader" extension in Chrome, so easily fixed myself, but thought others might benefit from that!
oh, yes, I'll add that next.
Drew Jones 🇬🇧Suggestion: The ability to filter by apps that have a guide. For me, this would serve a bit like a popularity filter. Also, as I am novice seeing only apps with guides would be valuable. Loving your work!
cool, I'll add that :) also means I better get cracking making more guides!
Nathanielall of this is a good idea buddy! 👌keep it up 🥰
happy to!
oneshotdashieIs your intended end goal to do something other projects like awesome-selfhosted or selfh.st don’t do? I’m always happy to see new cool projects!
yeah, same but different. more apps, filter by supported os, guides and so on.
Nero MaplethorpeBe good to see like a difficulty level just on os id say unraid is beginner truenas intermediate promox advanced. But also some apps are harder than others. Also the way it’s installed changes the challenge level. For example pi hole with unbound trying to do config files is a pain but there is a pre-made unraid docker that just has it all sorted.
oh, that's a great idea
