Full video and guides are on my Patreon. Have a look at the link in the description. In this video we are going to cover the last steps of setting up your own #Pangolin server to replace #Cloudflare tunnels. We will set up a site install new into #Unraid and then we will instead up a service and access it remotely. We will also touch on password and pin protection as well as geo-blocking protection.

👻what about rustdesk? since its open source as well
I'm a fan, I have a video on it here somewhere
👻its can be tunnels as well?
yup
BrendanI’m using sso/ passkey with authentik and I had everything set up right with tunnels and the redirect was working but now I’m getting a redirect loop somewhere and I can’t figure it out. Any ideas?
Nico Morgan | Equine MediaPresumably Pangolin doesn’t work behind CGNAT like Starlink?
yeah, you will need to host the pangolin server on something remote, but then local access works fine if your on a cgnat. that's how I am, and works fine. pangolin on a hetzner server for 4$ a month.
Acadia GuinevereBen! do you think you'll move to a pure wireguard setup eventually? how do you feel about VPNs being SaaS?
good question, I think I'll always go with the easy option. VPNs as SaaS.. makes it easy, but a security risk...
lepoopyfacebut you still need pangolin to be accessible. ie. you need a server outside your network.
Yes, a small low cost webserver, that becomes the proxy for you. 4.50pm is 20tb of traffic, through unlimited domains, and routes.
Compute For Humans (on YT)I love Pangolin! Easiest way to deploy things from home without a VPN
yeah, I'm super impressed with it
AlcoholI see they fixed the typo
Dany GonzalezWhat if you want to expose the SERVER itself?
you can, just set the port to be 443 if it's ssl or 80 if it's not.
Paul Menuti wish pangolin didn't have issues with TLS termination over multi tenant multiplexed 80/443
yeah, it's awesome but not perfect.
Paul MenutI'm closely watching for this issues to be resolved, i want to ditch my cascading reverse proxy setup so bad
BeardedFiredoes this work for hosting game Servers too without exposing ip and port forwarding?
yup
BeardedFirewell ill be damned. i might have to have a look at that. doing some home hosting and want to run a few game Servers for me and some friends. been using playit.gg for tunnel but only really allows me one at a time. appreciate the info will look into it!
just be careful of bandwidth use, hetzner gives me 20tb a month in the $4.50 server and I think it's like 1.50 for each tb after that. bandwidth is what gets ya.
BeardedFireahh so with this you have to pay for bandwidth?
all servers that "cloud" have bandwidth costs, something you can't get away from I'm afraid.
you can host this on a home server, but you need to be able to port forward on your homenetwork
BeardedFiregotcha. appreciate the info!
KekiPlease if you can show a video how that would be great… I spent all day trying this with no success… I have an amp server that hosts my games and a Vps with pangolin and can’t get the clients to connect ðŸ˜
Keki2. Home server is on my local network, Vps is on the cloud and no combination of site + resources, whether amp is on a vm with docker or running on proxmox lxc, whether the site is native or a container… I can’t figure it out
yeah I'll get something together.
BeardedFireawesome. ill also be looking out for this!
Andrew HarlessIf you're just wanting to host a game server you might consider playit.gg. It works in a very similar manner. It isn't foss, however. I think their free tier allows up to 4 servers.
BeardedFirei have been using playit.gg however its only 4 ports. 1 agent 2 tunnels i believe and their free tier been reduced to UDP only due to people abusing and getting ips from playit blocked so they has to do alot of dmg control
Andrew HarlessOh geez. I can see how that would wreck their business.
BeardedFirefor sure
BeardedFirenow i could pay 30 bucks for a year and get alot more access but
The First LordReally cool. Did you set this up on seperate hardware on your local network? Will this work for services across vlans?
I have pangolin on a low cost webser er hosted in Hetzner, and then I use newt to connect the rest of the services.
Perfection DreamerBurned my brain out trying to get pangolin to work
did this or my other video help?
