I'm always on the lookout for tools that I make a cable TV like experience from my rather large amount of video and movie data. #QuasiTV came across my periphery recently as another option and it is so very, very simple to do. It's worth a look.

Col DunnWhat’s the attraction to this over going into Plex or jellyfin and browsing. Am I missing a use case?
it just does programming for. you, making tv channels from content you have. no need to choose what tonwatch
Peterjames33Love that you looked into it! Ersatz/Disque are great if you like tinkering and super customization, but it's much laggier for me and my baby server. Quasi works much better for me as a reliable mindless personalized program service
Quazi is great
BooR4dleyI’ve been thinking about doing one of these setups, but the thing I want most is to be able to fill a folder with old ads and for the system to run them during the actual commercial breaks in the shows without having to manually figure out where that is in each episode. Is there a database of ad break times or something that can be integrated into one of these programs that will do it automagically?
not that I've found.... there are YouTube channels that have a lot that you could use, but there isn't anything I've found as a single downloadable db
penultimateconquestI’ve been using ErsatzTV just because I can add the channels to Plex
Joel NaI saw tindarr today which is a tinder style swipe system for your media. It's very early but looked interesting
droopienot a bad find
I know right.
droopiethis video made me find tunarr which is server side, then ersatztv which has more features. so much fun
GI Robot FTWDispatcharr
Buckaroo PonziI want a music video pipeline like this.
So you can manually create a channel, if you have a Folder on a drive with all the videos then 100% you can do it.
Justin 🍉Wait it doesn’t need a separate server??
nope
Justin 🍉Installed. Pretty nice! I think the only downside I can see to this over something like ErsatzTV is channels are local-only/not being able to share your channels with friends or even other instances of the app as far as I can tell.
yeah, that seems to be the case, unless you're making the server IP public, then it "should" work.
Justin 🍉I don’t see any mechanism for connecting two instances. It looks like the ip address is just for web admin access. Ah well. Still cool.
Peterjames33The dev is pretty active in his discord lately. It looks like he's planning that type of setup for the near future.
David 57been there. Tunarr. works with plex and jellyfin. created 7 channels. marvel, DC, seasonal, cartoon, classic TV, sitcom, a test/playground channel. I get it. thousands of movies and tv shows. u have it all and nothing.
tunarr has some issues, and the project was abandoned I believe.
droopiedizqueTV is abandon. Tunarr is a work in progress and is under very active development. both look good tho 1 is server side 1 is client side
WoodyStillLaughsSO glad I followed you. damn if you don't show me the coolest shit
doing my best :)
WoodyStillLaughskeep it up sir, you're solving HUGE swaths of my research for me. lol I've upgraded hardware to my wife's laptop, after I bought her a MacBook as reconciliation, and turned that into my docker server. I've got jellyfin, nginx and portainer. I want to get a NAS and some mini PC's to get into kubernetes
Dylan Raineyheck yeah! I have a home assistant button on my wall tablet that turns on my tv and then plays quazi, which is open to my family channel, allowing me to quickly turn on the tv and play for background or the dogs etc
that's how's its done. nice.
PJim using ersatztv, setup christmas and halloween channels + sitcom 24/7 channels. so convenient!
this is even easier.
Charles SchwarzCoax on the Apple ecosystem is newer and it is worth checking out
Charles SchwarzWorks with both Plex and Jellyfin I believe
yup
TheCJMellonUmmmm Coax is awesome!! Thank you
oneandonlymatthewYup, was going to suggest this as well. Been running it for weeks.
WightLightningWhere can I find it? Nothing shows up when I search App Store and google.
oneandonlymatthewhttps://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/1pp8qyw/coax_beta_open_again/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
oneandonlymatthewI tried to find a shorter url, but couldn’t. I’m surprised Reddit doesn’t use a shortener.
Charles SchwarzI believe it’s in TestFlight at the moment but it might be transitioning to an actual release pretty soon.
you need to make sure you're searching in the store from android tv or go to the site, they have the DL links there
WightLightningThanks so much!!!
WightLightningThank you! I was actually looking for this Coax thing that these guys were talking about since I’m on Apple TV. Great video and discussion here!
rophelNeed an LLM option to sort things into more realistic virtual/historic channels. They feel very basic and boring. Honestly I’d like some to recreate
TonytonyOh this is just 🔥 Thank you ! 😎
user90143762994Wonderful! your vids always pop up with exact recommendations I'm looking for but I'm too lazy or have trouble if knowing programs recommended from Reddit are safe to install without more work. Thanks! ❤
so glad to be of help!
Mxrkno way, this makes a cable television emulator using your files??? bro I'm going to cry
its insane.
Bostich 🇨🇦I thought of this as a feature for streaming apps having no idea it already existed. Brilliant.
