if you're Looking to add ebooks or audiobooks or manga into your home media library, then it might be worth taking a look at #lazylibrarian. In this video, I will do an install using #Unraid. It does have a docker as well as a #trunas application. Unfortunately, it will not work with #prowlarr, which is a pain, but it's a great simple to use tool.

Miss StellaSir, 20 years ago I would follow this like water but I’m old now. Can you take this down a couple of notches and mansplain like I’m 5 😁 50 is the same?
I wish I could make it much simpler, unfortunalty this is the best I can do :(
Will Lennonit doesn't support prowlarr inherently, but prowlarr DOES support lazylibrarian. go to prowlarr > apps > add. it'll have a lazylibrarian option. once you set that up, you might have to manually click "sync indexers with apps". then, go to lazylib > providers and your prowlarr providers should be in there. i had to refresh and sync a few times, but they got there. you might also have to fix the priority in lazylib.
nice
Ben6038ReadMeABook is the BEST solution for audiobooks
Grumpy Bareyou can add audiobooks in Jellyfin for free
Lilpit912what about Readarr?
JędrekI use Plex and prologue on iOS for playback
angry toasterAre there any of these suggested audiobook services that also work with non-English narrators?
b00tsiethese work with not English aswell
penguinsareneatAudiobookshelf
Hash MilhanAnna’s Archive is a brilliant site to download ebooks. And there’s a self hosted app called Ephemera that lets you search and download via AA and link it up to callibre web or Booklore
and Spotify data too!
mikeI've just started diving into self hosted ebook libraries, settled on kavita for now. seems like a great plex-esque ui that is very familiar, I just wish there was an app for remote access on mobile
whatgoesbumpReadarr is better
GoodbyeTikTokits not supported anymore
whatgoesbumpWhat do you mean? When was it abandoned? Because I’m still using it?
GoodbyeTikTok6 months ago the repository was officially archived and there will never be updates to it. it has been over 2 years since an update before that. reading glasses is the meta agent you need
b00tsiechaptarr (a better replacement) is in the works
c.ree.dWhat do you use to find and download movies and shows for a jellyfin server
I ues overseer but jellyseer is also a good option too.
c.ree.dSo just jellyseer would help me get movies and shows for free? I am trying to self host movies and shows because I am tired of paying subscription fees
totally get that! I'll do a video for you.
c.ree.dThank you !! I appreciate it greatly. Trying to set up my own media server has been hellll😂
Andyoverseer and jellyseer are in the process of merging now into seer
Lukaswell you need sonarr, radarr, and prowlarr for all that as well. overseerr is just for discovery and user requests. it doesn't actually handle the downloads, torrenting, or file management
timeis0854😂
Mitch Menghilike the new hair cut bro
thanks, it was about time :)
Firewall PhantomPersonally love my Audiobookshelf as others have said, but I haven’t seen ShelfPlayer mentioned. It’s an iOS client for ABS and I just love it.
Willow B. MediaI had a lot of trouble getting LL configured so I started using Anna's Archive and Audiobook bay for sourcing, then calibreweb and Audiobook shelf for hosting and playback
Thicc_Thiccly_storyteller is great as well for ebook and audiobooks too. lets you run a local ai to transcribe the audiobook and align with epub, to mimic the amazon whispersync thing
ooohhh that's interesting.
Thicc_Thiccly_super simple to setup. i have it running in docker desktop
userunknownso what happens after a yearly license ends? you loose all your access to every songle servoce you have there?
walohmaYou just don't get any updates that release after your license ends
in unraid? you lose nothing, you just don't get updates.
f744uasb219haircut and fresh lighting got you looking good sir
why thankyou 🥰🥰🥰
gurrkinnI've had decent results with readarr, which does work with prowlarr. i think they recommend separate for books and audiobooks though. it's also not active development anymore..
Tregelen🇦🇺Doesn't Readarr do it as well? I haven't tried it yet but I've seen it on the list on Proxmox scripts
readarr development was dropped a while back, there are some forks running though, but I've not investigated
richterscale17Chaptarr is still closed alpha but looks really promising.
Random Rochfordliterally just found Calibre for my books
nice
RAIDER_Nice cut
lykirīi started to use audiobookshelf and then sound leaf to listen
nice
lykirīoh i didn’t mean to offend, i just said that i tried slightly different set up
Sebastian KlingkI use Plappa for Audiobookshelf
bapboy2021also check out libation it is a project that helps you migrate from "other services" to your own self hosted solution
bapboy2021https://github.com/rmcrackan/Libation
Yes, libation, if you do want to go from audible, it does help the downloading and DRM unlocking of that, which is, yeah, I saw that. I don't have an audible account, but definitely want to look at it.
bapboy2021what is really like about audible combined with libation is that you can return audiobooks for a credit so as long as you dont go too crazy, you can buy one book and just slowly over time download all the books you want
ooohhh cheeky.
bapboy2021ya audiobookshelf is a MUCH better player than any other self hosted app
I'll have to take a look. Second comment about audio bookshelf. I guess it will do the player. I don't know, does it also do audio as well? Like audio books or just the e-books? And I guess it doesn't do the downloading though.
bapboy2021it is just audio. the main things that makes it good is that you can split by chapter, and it keeps track of where you left off. if you just have a like 12 hour audio file it is very hard to navigate compared to like sorting through chapters
bapboy2021ot gives a much more "audible like" app experemce
oh, that's really nice.
sold.
bapboy2021this is a screenshot
webbk18Audiobookshelf primarily does audiobooks. there's a basic ebook reader, but there's way better ones like calibre or komata for now. abs also does podcasts and can automatically download them from the RSS feeds
I don't like how komata is paid too..
webbk18ahh that I didn't know. I hear about it all the time, but don't run it myself.
same
D H-MHave you looked a calibre?
a little, what's your thoughts?
D H-MIt’s great I’ve been using it for about a decade or so. Have about 80k books in it and it’s been a lot of work to organize them all but once it’s done it’s so simple. Has lots of add ons to get the book data as well like the covers and such.
that's a lot of reading!!
Free_FelestineHell yea!💐
Michael WheatlandAudiobookshelf is by far the best self hosted audiobook platform. it allows multiple users, streaming, offline listening, keeps track of progress across streaming and downloads and has a brilliant mobile app. Using Plex or jellyfin to keep track of progress offline and online doesn't work well.
SamI can never get my ABS to be able to been seen outside my own network, and it infuriates me! The only work around I have found, is downloading books at home, then using it offline, which, look, isn't the end of the world, but still 😂
I wasn't actually sure if audiobookshelf managed the sourcing and getting the torrents and that stuff. Good to know if it does though.
The First LordI use this daily, 876 audiobooks with over 500 already listened to. It does not manage downloads to my knowledge, though. Really great program if you are looking for a nice audible style player. It is easy to set up other users as well.
The First LordI would recommend the videos on this channel for tailscale. The reverse proxy for this program does not work the best from my experience. A sidecar tailscale or full server tailscale works great for accessing outside the home.
Jasonit doesn't source anything
Sebastian KlingkIt does source Podcasts with their RSS feed
Corlux AericioDo you happen to know of any applications for cataloguing books using a barcode scanner. I’m aware of Libib but I was hoping for a self-hosted option
Sorry, no, I've not seen anything like that so far.
