Dallin ReedCan you make a long format or the red app of this series and can you make the video about fixing the ip and self contained network please
Dallin ReedAnd can you go through Spotify replacement on the media server
I did have it up, but I had to take it down so I can maybe get monotised, however it's up on my Patreon still!
I do have guides on lidarr and that's the one yiu want, also on the Patreon.
olliam so close of deploying arr stack to my Homelab but I don't want to build huge storage. Is there any possibility to just stream the media?
@_ghostmokomo_ you could use services like Streamio, but I would say just have a monthly cull plan.
ollCull is like deleting right?
Yes, sorry I mean delete what you've watched.
ollAh ok. Well then I should defently look into it. Will it wear out my ssd fast? Or am I just a bit to scared for nothing
Its not something that I'd be concerned about to be honest. I think you're more likely to upgrade and add more storage before you wear out the SSD.
farmerfrancedo I absolutely need to set this all up on a pie? I've already got a large chunk of these services running on Windows already. hung up on getting overseerr
RubenSo Overseerr is only useful if you have multiple Plex users?
Nope, I use it regally, so I can find tv and movies in the same app. Just makes it easier.
Rubenah instead separate in sonarr/radarr you mean? Will give it a try thx!
hitoallWhat are you using for your flowchart here?
Drawio, self hosted, I did a video a little while back on how to run it locally.
JackHellsingOfficialbeen trying to make proxmox with omv and jellyfin to work, with basically no success. Im thinking about changing to CasaOS just to follow your tutorials
Casa is really basic to use yeah, Unraid is another option (but paid) BUT it is expandable easier than casa. SO many options
JackHellsingOfficialAre you gonna add a NAS? or how would you do it?
Yes, build a NAS, create a storage pool, created shared folders and network share them for access
Oni🥰
293847!:!.‘Loki’shi there got your setup complete but having issues connecting portable USB drive within casaos any tips ??? and the create storage button is greyed out ???
Connect another drive, I belive that button is to create a pool, so you need more drives.
Dany GonzalezExcellent guide.
TJHey what was the final cost of this? Including hardware
Honestly $0. harware is the cost, the rest is time.
Gizmo🇮🇪🇪🇺Love sickchill myself
sickchill seems neat, a nice alternative to Sonarr
FryI use Plex (yeah bite me) and I usually choose subs there. We can search missing subs in-app if needed
walohmaI honestly don't find Bazzar that useful. Subs are more than often out of sync and it's honestly better to just setup Radarr/Sonarr to gram from release groups that include subs instead imo
I guess its all hit an miss, Ive not had much of an issue, maybe im lucky!
Eric Cartmmancan I have Nord VPN on him ? for privacy?
yes a VPN is always a good idea. I just found out about NordMesh as well, so ill do a video on that !
Eric Cartmmanbut is it possible to have it on casaos the VPN?
Rodimus82🥰
DJLastKnightmight be coming in late. but do you have the wrapped in a VPN or something :)
Not this system no, however I'm doing a video on the network I've set up, and that will show. You how I've managed that part.
DJLastKnightthanks chap
Glad to be helpful
AbdoHey man, great video, do you have full video somewhere
Yeah, I'm just about to upload it to YouTube, probably tomorrow, but it's everything in one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQFw47RBbIU yup, its still uploading though
AbdoThanks a lot man , excellent content, and great presenting
I’m Good ChampionWhat’s the end game here? I’m a Luddite.
The goal of the series was to give people a step by step guide to replace Netflix with a fully automated media server at home.
I’m Good ChampionWay too complex for my simple mind.
Never to late to learn!
Adam ❌ 🇦🇺how much storage you have on the pi
On the pi, not a lot, its why I don't recommend using a Pi for this, I'll do a video on some PC recommendations though.
Faizel NoorgatI’ve tried these on my proxmox server. But they are so damn finicky. Eventually I just moved to stremio/real-debrid.
They can be yeah, the issue I find with these is when you have containers, getting them to all talk to each other can be a real pain.
Faizel NoorgatI got them all talking, but at some point they stopped responding, then after a few restarts they stopped talking to each other.
It's likely that when you set the IP address to connect them they could talk to each other, but then your local IP changed, and they weren't updated. It's a common issue :(
DejavooooIm gonna learn
Hoping that the series helps, let me know if you have any other questions you have!
DejavooooSure i will
Max HeadroomHell yeah brother!!!!
Thanks!
bobhighly recommend jellyfin as a decent Plex alternative, ditched Plex for it about 2 years ago
Yeah, Jellyfin is great, but lacks the apps across devices I use like playstation.
bobah fair enough, never even looked for it in the console stores. it runs on android tv, android and in the browser (desktop/laptop) which covered 100% of my use cases.
And for 99% of people it's going to be the same, I'm just a fan of plex and find it more reliable. Paid service, means dedicated development team and so on. But at the end of the day, it's just preference.
Tom 🇨🇦I went with Emby after I ditched Plex. Support on lots of devices, paid so decent support.
Emby is a great choice, plex is my go to purely as it's got a playstation app.
womp_womp_womp_wooOooOmpDo you use usenet?
I don't no, but what are your thoguhts on it?
House923When I ran my server I found Usenet was significantly more reliable and consistent for more current media.
100% going to check it out :)
womp_womp_womp_wooOooOmpI found it confusing, and potentially just as expensive as streaming services. But I’m probably doing it wrong!
freongreonJust as expensive ? it's 5% the price of the streaming services for a year instead of a month. More reliable than torrents.
freongreonnzb geek and althub . one is paid one is free. a few other free ones as well. I don't really remember which news provider I have since it's an annual thing but it was also relatively cheap with unlimited bandwidth.
nzb geek is great.
Corpse NibblerIsn't sharing API keys a bad thing?
In this case they are internal keys to connect the apps between the docker containers, you can't do anything with them publicly. But usually yes API keys shouldn't be this public.
😊
user9485496336213Plex 🤮
user5450098968536 🦫I'd also recommend nzb360 for mobile
Alarrrrrrrrr 🏴☠️... I approve 👌
Lol, me hearties, across the merry sea we sail, the great pira'sea
AlArrr, ye be speakin’ true, matey! Hoist the black flag, me hearties, for the wind be at our backs an’ the grog be flowin’! ☠️⚓
👿
TenamiI see lidarr on your list, isn't that essentially dead?
I had planned on it, hoping they would get it fixed before I got to it, I don't think it's dead, but it's very ill. I was going to show nicotine+ instead but casa doesn't support it unfortunalty.
Tenamiit's the big piece I'm missing from my setup right now, was hoping I was wrong haha
walohmaThe metadata server is back up and is slowly being rebuilt now!
charlesdigitaleraAre you available to customize projects on a new project for hire based
Hi mate, sorry my day job keeps me pretty busy.
Crytical 🇨🇦This is a perfect example of why I stopped (and now started again) going this route for media watching. There comes a point when just paying for it is worth it to not have to go through and maintain all this. But with the prices forever increasing, it’s making the pain worth it again.
Totally agree with you, it's getting outrageous!
Aprildo not agree at all. set everything up in less than a day of work and really does not take much maintenance
AlboNice mate
Cheers :)
