I just got sent some Latte Panda Iota equipment from dfrobot.com and I wanted to show you just how sexy this stuff is. An absolute perfect drop in replacement for #RaspberryPi 5 if you are looking to get one. Take a look at the #LattePanda #Iota or if you've been considering getting a #Zimaboard this is a lower cost yet just as good device without a problem.

MichaelI am not fan of raspberry pi anymore because of the price but. Raspberry can run windows to...
true, but no where near as well
Alexwhen talking about home lab stuff, would something like this be better than say older sff equipment?
honestly it depends on what you want it to do. almost everything in my rack is older, second hand gear and its totally functional. I'd always go reclaimed or repurposed gear over new these days. old dell optiplexes are workhorses and will do as much as new hardware 4x the price
XxCRABSTICKxXI was a fan back in 2012 but there better options out there these days
very true.
stevois it worth getting a nano itx instead?
nano itx would work just as well!
Mach AttackI'm running an older Pi3 model B for my home media server (with SSD drives) and streaming via VLC. Hasn't skipped a beat, but please post a full vid if you set up the panda from scratch!
I just did, go to my profile, it was 2 vids back!
Mach Attackthanks man!!
aKOde4o1can I make a deck strong enuff for steam games?
with the panda, 100%
SamI'm so electronically stunted. I would like to build a cyber deck solely to play Baldurs Gate 3. Is that possible?
possible, I'd look at a more powerful device though, LattePanda may be an option,
roleplaysclipsA note to any cyberdeck or retro emulation enthusiasts who are new to the scene. When he said the Pi5 “is t powerful” note that it can emulate up to PS2 and GameCube. Unless you actually need heavy processing power for specific work a Pi5 will handle most anything a standard user will need.
true
Johnny Walkerwould this be the go for jellyfin torrenting pi hole etc dude
yes!
The Human HeaterI'm thinking of making a cyberdeck for general purposes, and one thing I do a lot (on my actual PC) is game development through Unity, would the Latte Panda Iota be decent at that (assuming proper ram)?
they come in a 16gb /128gb RAM storage so better than a pi, and cpu is double the passmark of the other, so if it runs on pi, the 100% its going g to run on a panda
The Human HeaterThat sounds incredible! I'll be looking into this fs cuz I know game dev is a great stress test lmao
😁😁😁
Space junkheey, do you think i can use Rpi for my cyberpanel project? its on my page the only vid with heaps of watches. im thinking either a media player or choose your own adventure journey or both... please help!
I would try to turn it into an audio player. You can get a 5-inch touchscreen of Raspberry Pi, get the audio, it's called a DAC, a DAC, that will plug in, and then it's an amplifier in a speaker, and I wouldn't try and cyber deck, but that would make a very, very cool cyber jute box. That's what I would try.
Space junkthanks!
I think it would be awesome.
Space junk!!
p3achmi1kRaspberry pi run laps around everyone because their support and updates are unmatched. Lots of powerful little boards out there but they might get an update once a year if any.
there is always room for challengers!
Tregelen🇦🇺I wish I had the time (and money) for projects like these, they sound like so much fun. One of my biggest issues though is if it doesn't work, I often don't have the brain energy to troubleshoot it and then it goes into the abyss of never finished projects
I completely understand! passion and enthusiasm for projects are often sabotaged by finances and time!
2ofakindthey have gotten way expensive now
they used to be like $50 a d that was the whole le attraction!
2ofakindI remember buying the board for 35 bucks and running retro pi without any problems
those where the days!
