Getting into homelabbing isn't just about downloading and running open source software. I think it's also about taking back control of the hardware wherever you can. One of the first, and I think the most important, purchases you will make on this journey is to get yourself a 3D printer. I personally am a fan of the #BambooLab P1P. I've had it for about two years and it has been an absolute plug-in, set-and-forget device that's had quite a bit of use. There's also #Prusa and #Elegoo . Your mileage may vary and your budget may vary, but I think it's well worth it. I've been printing off the LabRax STL, because I was considering trying to get a #DeskPi , but all up it's like $400 US dollars, and who has that type of money? But a couple of days printing, $30 of filament, a lick of paint, and I have something just as good done all at home.

Rob2079π¨π¦Dude, seriously you're my across the planet brother. I have an X1C Carbon. Love it, don't want to tinker anymore. Had a prusa before, and a another before that. π
There are some battles I'm willing to fight but the one with the printer is not one. @bambulab_official just got it right I think, and the h2 series holy moly, that's next level. One day when the stars align I'll upgrade.
thesaxbygale π¨π¦Open source 3D printers!
j.pooz πDid you consider Creality at all?
I had a reality as my first one, and it was constant work, bamboolab was just set and forget and honestly, I don't want to have to tinker.
j.pooz πInteresting take, thanks!
Dylan Raineyif you hate yourself π
lol
Lucas McNamaraAgreed 100%. Have 2 older creality printers, and yes they are good to learn on but no they are not nearly as βplug and playβ as my Bambi p1s. It makes printing so much more enjoyable to hit go and know itβll work.
And for days too, I've been working on this rack for 3 days non stop and it just keeps going.
