I did a video on #DizqueTV but found out that that project has been abandoned, which is unfortunate, I thought it was actually really good. But if you're still interested in making your own TV channels based on the content that you have on your #Plex or #jellyfin or #Emby server then #Tunarr is a great alternative. Based on a fork of dizqueTV, but not abandoned, up to date and just as easy to use.

MattSmithMakes | ArtistI canβt for the life of me get past the xml part in plex. Driving me insane. Everything else works seemingly fine. Will be nice if this type of software is ever made for regular humans without in depth network training
AxDoes this work for M3U links?
not totally sure, I believe it does.
Peterjames33I just found QuasiTV this morning and after spending a year always tinkering with Ersatz, Quasi was amazing. Just scanned plex Library and made an entire guide on its own. Everything loads much quicker than Ersatz too
oh nice, I'll have to take a look
Jonathan MarkovskiI use xteve
chris brownHave a look at FieldStation42

Tall MaraWild. I saw your video on dizquetv the other day then setup Tunarr afterwards. It's really great once you have the transcoding settings tuned
Yeah I rather like it!
David Birchthe only flaw with these apps is no passthrough, im all local, no need for transcoding any of my content, its all direct play with all my devices.
yeah thats a drawback
David Birchreally love this idea, always struggle what to start
kersatz is my favorite open source project, it has so much depth to it. I have like 10 channels of varying complexity
I was playing with it yesterday, its a beast of a tool!
BackgroundLogicI'd like to see this with music and the ads be reminders and lists from my calendar and todo list
Thats a smart idea!
Bruce WayneErsatzTV is the GOAT. It does everything here and more and I'm confused as to how you haven't covered it
Bruce WayneI have an entire cable network set up with commercial injection and programming blocks with ErsatzTV.
Bruce WayneI have cartoon network with daily toonami blocks and Adult Swim blocks with cartoon cartoon Fridays on Friday, Nickelodeon with SNICK and Nick@Nite, Disney with Zoom Disney, ABC with TGIF Fridays and Wonderful World of Disney movies on Sunday nights. And so much more all with ErsatzTV.
Thats AWESOME.
Im so impressed with how many people are just building stations!
KingKongDongThis is what I use
bice
XeckinToonami, here I come
Love it
Michael BellCamberton on the last video about transcoding, thank you for mentioning it here. This was the other product that I used, and since I donβt have transcoding negative on my CPU it was causing havoc every time I booted. I have since got a dedicated graphics card so I might give this a go again. Loving this series instant follow.
Michael BellTon of Siri screw ups my bad lol.
Its worth a try I think!
Justin πNice! I tried ErsatzTV and found it way more complicated than I was interested in. π
Agreed, there is another one ill take a look at maybe today, called Popcorn (I think its a spin on the popcorn time app) but that looks EVEN easier
HexologistErsatzTV works too
Its got a bit of a learning curve.
Porco RossoReally big bummer that the transcoding canβt be offloaded to plex/ jellyfin that sounds like a great feature.
Dylan Raineyyeuuup that'd be nice. quazi tv has that
Yeah I know right!
Waynevery useful and interesting. straightforward to the content. thanks, man
Glad you like.
PFArchive.org has commercials from a lot of decades you can download and sometimes they are already split instead of one long video. Search for something like "archive.org 00s commercials"
Thats so awesome!
Dany GonzalezWhat does it look like for the end user?
If you have seen the live TV page in Plex, its just like that.
ColinHow heavy will this be on my unraid server, I donβt have a powerful one
Great question, I think if you have a decent GPU, it's not too bad. If you're running 15 different channels with someone watching them all then it would bog the system down.
ColinAh this wonβt be for me then, Iβm runnning on a old optiplex with no gpu, I really like the android app quasitv, the only issue is the channels need to be made on the client every time
All I'm hearing now are solid reasons for you to start upgrading!
Dylan RaineyI love tunarr I've just set mine up. I'll also add that if you just want something set up quickly and don't need as much control, quazi tv on your TV's app store is fantastic. you log in with your jellyfin/Plex, and it auto generates channels based off genre in seconds and you're up and running, you can pay $5 to make custom channels.
Ill take a look at quazi tv, I also had another commenter talk about their app Popcorn (I guess its a take on the old popcorn time app)
TripledropI use playlists in Plex - eg I have all Simpsons episodes in a playlist. then I just shuffle the playlist. same for friends. family guy. red dwarf etc. can do all animation, comedy, sport etc What's the advantage of having a TV channel setup instead of this, and having it running all the time etc?
I think its more for the experience really, have all sorts of different channels to stop the I don't know what to watch problem.
Dylan Raineyblock schedules and stuff. like if you wanted to recreate toonami you can have it play cowboy Bebop at a set time or a set block, and have it play the next episode. or have it play random shows, but keep the episodes per show in order. just lots of control options essentially
BigGreek19One of the big benefits for me personally is that when you watch the stuff through the channel it does not mark the episode as watched by default (there is an option in Tunarr if you DO want it marked as watched). This way when I want to watch something random I've already seen it doesn't pop up on my continue watching in Plex.
nice
TripledropI do like that actually.. one of my annoyances is that I tend to go to sleep with eg Archer episodes on shuffle, and it's always on my continue playing, even though I've not really watched it (just white noise to sleep to)
Love it.
BigGreek19As a heads up for anyone wanting to setup a channel like when you were a kid, you can go to YouTube and download old commercials to add in! There are a lot of playlists there of 90s commercials π
oh thats FREAKING awesome an idea.
BigGreek19Glad to see you did this one! Tunarr isn't perfect, but I have been liking it π I recently built a whole new server on Unraid over the past few months. I was running my Plex server on a Windows machine for MANYYY years. I wish I had found your content before or while I was building mine haha. but still love the content man!
Yeah I like Tunarr, there was another one that popped up on my feed today called Popcorn that is also pretty neat too.
BigGreek19I'll have to look this one up when I get home π Is the docker just called Popcorn?
