lizzrDoes this mean I can connect my tv to a raspi media server?
Yup, install plex on the tv and you're good to go
lizzrLiterally following the instructions now to try and do this! Thank you β€
lizzrI think Iβve missed the ssh config setup when I loaded it up π€¦πΌββοΈ
If yiu can plug in a screen and keyvoard/mouse to the pi you can access it that way as well.
lizzrOkay Iβve made progress- Iβve dm you a message if youβre able to help?

cliff88walkercan I use the full rpi software and not the lite?
cliff88walkerand can I still do multitasking? like still use it as a mini pc, or other pi programming?
beboulpyes you can but u will have lower performances
beboulpyou just need to use multiples dockers for your usages, ask gpt about it
FORGODnetmirrorππππππππfree is netflix.....
Satoshi6181Iβm having a problem when I try to type the password in the terminal it wonβt let me
It doesn't show you the password as you type if you didn't know. Just type it and press enter and see what happens.
Satoshi6181Thank you Iβm also having trouble installing Casaos is it not compatible with the pi zero w?
That may be an issue I think the pi zero will not have enough beef to run it no.
Satoshi6181What pi should I buy?
Satoshi6181Do you have a how to video on that Iβm trying to get into the home lab space but donβt know where to start

JonYour videos are awesome! Iβm a newbie to it, set up Plex, and rr suite just all on windows (most familiar). Iβm running into issues for remote streaming as I have Nord running for my media downloads. Whatβs the best way to set up on one computer and seperate Plex server (no vpn) and everything else with vpn? Iβve tried split tunnelling and is still not working. π¬
Map the Plex server directly to the shared folder on your local network, so even if its on nord, locally you can connect to it, I think.
LylesXPthe raspberry pi is strong enough for movies, shows and live TV?
It may have issues when transcoding, but direct play should be fine.
NickIsnβt CasaOS pretty much abandonwear at this point?
Kinda but Not really, but they are moving people to zimaos, which is the same but a Baremetal os. As it's got better storage management and so on.
NickI didnβt realize the age of video on first comment either. I am a portainer guy nothing has worked better for me yet.
I've not played with portainer before, I'm assuming it's proxmox on steroids.
NickNo itβs docker management. So casa App Store but you can get to the compose file.
Memento MoriHow does storage work though? Like most stuff is giga these days
JorgisimoArr is amazing been using it for years along with plex and itβs replaced all streaming for my family.
Yeah it really is.

mewy64 π¦πΊThis is an awesome video for me right now π
Awesome to hear!
TBigFishWhy not just buy a NAS instead of all of this? π€
You can, but you still need to get the data and manage it though, this can still help. Your nas is just the storage.
TBigFishJust watch on PCs or get LibreElec on raspberry pi for your TVs. So much simpler than all of this.
startingframeI liked plex but it has been lagging lately and constantly disconnecting my home libraries. Where jellyfin flies media
I really need to do a jellyfin video
startingframeI am struggling with Manet outside of the house so I donβt need to use plex for music

jjJellyfin underrated + Jellyseer
J4CKM0NIβm a very fresh newbie but I want in! I tried asking chat gpt for help but she led me down an error rabbit hole. Do you recommend this guide for a regular desktop im converting or is this OS for RPi only
you can use this guide totally fine, but instead of using the docker apps, you can just the windows apps as well. Same process, different app is all
MimsyMadAgree, it took me a long time to find out how they all worked. Would have liked a single clear web page outlining it all
Bower π¦πΊFlaresolverr is now outdated and byparr should be used instead.
I'll take a look at byparr!
ChristopherIs this safe or does it need extra security set up?
Extra security is always a good decision

Wurstwasseryes, try to play along on my flatcar Linux with jellyfin container and see what'll come
Aleran1141 π¨π¦Big rec for people starting out: check local education auctions for PCs being sold off. I got a stack of 8 HP elitedesks with 32gb ram and a 500gb NVME disk, intel 8th and 10th gen chips in them for $200 all in. It was a great start to my lab cluster.
That's a great tip!
BenI would also do Tautulli install also, data is fun
Data is TOO much fun.
X41I've always sailed the high seas, but ever since I got into the *arr suite and Usenet indexers it's gotten to a whole other level
It really has!
Chriscook55do u have a youtube channel
I do, its in my bio but there isn't a lot there :)
PigJohnoauth-proxy with tailscale on top of all this. plus copyparty

NakatokI'm gonna setup synology NAS for my summer home with this guide βοΈ
Synology is where I first started with my homelabbing hobby, then only thing you need to be aware of is the CPU power.
NakatokIt will be two, maaaaybee three screens max simultaneously, surely it can handle that in 1080p π
If you're streaming to 3 screens over the network from one device then it's treated as three independent streams and may have some buffering issues
DejavooooHow can i start this on a mini pc or old laptop, no Pie
Mini pc or old laptop is the best option over a pi, to be honest. What operating system are you using and what is the model of the CPU?
DejavooooWindows on an i3 but if linux can work id go with that
Linux is the way to go, I'm making a video on how to choose what os to use!
DejavooooThat would be awesome⦠thank you
tommyknockersπ
:)
NopeWould you be interested in doing a similar process but for complete beginners? Which raspberry Pi am I buying? what cables do I need? Will this work with any TV? I'm completely clueless but would love to get started on something like this.
Absolutely, I was planning on a video about best low cost PC's to use for a media lab!
NopeHeck yeah, I mean I was planning on buying a pi 5 and using that, but I gather from this comment that wouldn't be enough, I'd need a separate PC to run the server somewhere else in the house right?
Yeah Pi 5 is great BUT NOPE, it will not be enough to run a good server.
Ryan Seleskithis is great, iv never heard of the add one, im just starting to build my first jellyfin vm
Yeah the *Arr stack apps make it work really well. I'm using plex in this series but, jellyfin will work as well, with vary little difference, it's only the initial setup of folders that would change. I'm a plex fan, so that's my choice, also the plex app works on playstation. Nothing else does.
